For the second time in a row, Syko has not appeared for his scheduled match against Matt Fairlane. Many are beginning to wonder what the situation is.
Some have speculated it’s simply a matter of the Family of Darkness attempting to play mind games with Fairlane, others believe that the Family of Darkness want to avoid Fairlane all together.
On December 26th Syko was set to take on Fairlane. That match was cancelled due to ongoing snow storms and poor travel conditions. A re-match was signed for January 9th in Arborg, hours prior to the event a call was placed to SPW officials stating that Syko was not going to appear. No reason was given.
Replacing Syko was Drezden who, for the night, was closely associated to the Family of Darkness going as far being in their dressing room and teaming with Stardom and Marius in the main event. Whether or not Drezden is a member of the Family of Darkness is unknown.
As a result, SPW President Dale Barnett has fined Syko an undisclosed sum that was quickly paid by the Family of Darkness. He warned the group that this is not to happen again or serious repercussions would be at hand including additional fines and suspensions.
Matt Fairlane is livid. He had this to say:
It’s all a bunch of BS. Obviously, just as it has always been, they are avoiding me. They are avoiding a situation where any one of them would go down in defeat. Syko cost me the title and he won’t fight me. Stardom won’t fight me. Marius is the champion and I haven’t had a re-match and you know he won’t want to fight me.
Let’s face it; I’ve defeated both Marius and Stardom in singles action when I was the champion. I don’t even care about the match, I don’t care if it’s sanctioned and I don’t care if it’s in a wrestling ring. I’m going to sit in the parking lot at the next show and wait for them if I have too and take matters into my own hands.
I don’t want to play these games and the fans deserve better than this.
Undecided, SPW President Dale Barnett is weighing his options. He fully intends to have Syko wrestle Fairlane in singles action. He has also stated that once that match takes place that Fairlane should be considered for a title shot for a myriad of excellent reasons.
