SPW debuted in Morden this past weekend with a great turn out and boisterous crowd. My good friend Jethro Hawg made his SPW in-ring debut to quite the ovation. Up to their antics the Family of Darkness made sure Marius did not lose the SPW Heavyweight Title but Jethro got the last laugh when he won the Main Event Battle Royal.
The newly formed team of Alex Shaver and Jerin Rose qualified for the SPW Tag Team Title finals. Four teams are now entered including Billy Blaze & La Sombra, DOOM & BIG BRIAN RICH and Bad to the Bone. Any one of these teams could walk away as champions but it is unclear if the finals will be limited to these four teams or, as rumoured, two more teams will be allowed to qualify.
Billy Blaze and Jay Lanza continue to prove why they are the top contenders to the SPW Provincial Title. These two men are dead set on dethroning current champion DOOM and win their first SPW titles. In my opinion, it’s only a matter of time before one of these two men become champion and as it stands my money is on Billy Blaze after a convincing win over Reggier Gallagher this past Saturday.
We had several guests from Alberta at the Morden show that included Steven Styles, Damion and Jack Danielz make their debut and Big Jess making his return. Rumblings in the back are that a few SPW wrestlers could be headed out to Alberta in the very near future. SPW President Dale Barnett is looking into sending Marius to defend the SPW Heavyweight Title. We’ll have more on this I’m sure.
Our next show is a return to the Selkirk Memorial Hall on February 20th for the second edition of Raising the Stakes. Last year’s main event pitted Marius Vs Jerin Rose in Manitoba’s first ever blind fold match. We find ourselves a year later and both Marius and Jerin Rose are champions here in SPW!
How awesome is Chi Chi Cruz? The veteran presence he brings to the locker room is unparalleled. He’s been a great addition to the roster since his debut last summer.
Until next time, that’s the buzz…
