February 3, 2010

Have you seen the SPW event schedule?  We now have shows confirmed up until the month of May.  We’ll be crisscrossing the province of Manitoba for the next few months including stops in Selkirk, La Broquerie, Beausejour, Morden, Somerset and Gimli just to name a few.

Speaking of travelling Jay Lanza, Ike Idol, Matt Fairlane and Marius all made their Real Canadian Wrestling debuts on January 30th, 2010 in Gibbons, Alberta.  This was Lanza’a first trip wrestling outside Manitoba.  RCW officials were impressed with his work.  Ike Idol was successful in 6-man tag team action teaming with the Brothers in Blood.  Matt Fairlane came close to winning the CEW Inter-Cities Title against Big Jess.  Unfortunately he had to settle for a DQ victory after outside interference.  Marius successfully defended the SPW Title against Heavy Metal.  The SPW Heavyweight Title has now been defended in Manitoba, Minnesota, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

All four were said to be a little banged up after the trip but are doing well.  Their sights are now focused on February 20th at the Selkirk Memorial Hall.

SPW President Dale Barnett recently announced that former TNA Star Cody Deaner will be making his SPW debut on March 19th in Beausejour.  Cody Deaner is best known for feuding with many of the TNA Knockouts even going so far as to claiming to be the TNA Knockouts Champion!  His opponent hasn’t been confirmed.

Zack Mercury is said to be training hard for his comeback.  Look for him to be on future SPW shows.  I can confirm that the latest we’ll see him in an SPW ring is on March 19th.  Ike Idol looks to be feeling 100% after his recent trip to Alberta.  La Sombra continues to rehab his knee which is said to be going really well.

Jethro Hawg is very excited for the Somerset debut in March and the Morden return in May.  Something tells me he may be lacing up the boots a few more times!

SPW was recently featured on the Heat Seat, a television series that airs internationally on the Fight Network.  The show is hosted by JP Parsonage (aka Johnny Devine).  More great exposure for Steeltown Pro! You can find a link on the main page.

SPW continues to forge on into 2010, making this year even better than the last!

Until next time, that’s the buzz…
