A Look at Two Main Events

Two huge main events have been confirmed for the SPW double shot on August 20th and August 21st.  Ron McLean and John Henry got together to give their take on the announced main events.

AUGUST 20 MAIN EVENT
SPW Provincial Title Match
Bushwhacker Luke Vs Syko (c)

Ron McLean: Bushwhacker Luke is looking to debut for SPW in a big way when he challenges Syko for the SPW Provincial Title in Arborg.  Without a doubt this is the biggest SPW Provincial Title match that we’ve ever promoted.

John Henry: I can’t agree with you more and for that reason this baby is our Main Event!  A former Stampede Wrestling International Tag Team Champion, Luke is no stranger to central Canada and certainly not a stranger to main event action.  Syko has been champion since June but it may very come to an end on August 20th.

Ron McLean: The title could change hands but let’s not forget outside factors which include two other champions, Rob Stardom and Marius.  I doubt they’ll let Syko go down without help and do all that they can to keep the title within the Family of Darkness.  I honestly can’t choose a favourite because this one can truly go either way.

John Henry: If it’s a clean fight, Bushwhacker Luke will take the gold.  If the Family of Darkness interferes I’d lean toward Syko.  However people are getting fed up with the Family so there is always a chance that others will come to Luke’s aid such as Jethro Hawg, Chi Chi Cruz, La Sombra or Matt Fairlane.  Bushwhacker Luke as SPW Provincial Champion; how cool would that be?

AUGUST 21 MAIN EVENT
MAIN EVENT Red River Rumble
Winner receives a shot at the SPW Heavyweight

Ron McLean: The 3rd annual Red River Rumble.  Traditionally the winner of the Red River Rumble is named #1 contender and awarded a shot at the SPW Heavyweight Champion.  In 2008 the winner qualified for the SPW Heavyweight Title tournament, which was won by Matt Fairlane.  In 2009 Rob Stardom became #1 contender by winning the Rumble.

John Henry: Thirty or more SPW wrestlers do battle for a shot at the top prize.  Next to the Anniversary Show the Red River Rumble is the biggest show of the year.  Matt Fairlane won the rumble and went on to become SPW Heavyweight Champion.  Stardom won the rumble as TRCW Champion and wound up parlaying his title shot to have Marius become champion last October.  The Red River Rumble can definitely change SPW’s current course.  Who do you see as your final four, Ron?

Ron McLean: My final four are Matt Fairlane, La Sombra, Ike Idol and Bobby Jay.  I’m leaning towards Matt Fairlane winning the Rumble for a second time or Ike Idol finally earning a shot at the SPW Heavyweight Title.

John Henry: Those are some good picks.  My final four are Ike Idol, La Sombra, James Beaver and Chi Chi Cruz.  Of those four I can see Ike Idol or Chi Chi Cruz being the third Red River Rumble winner.

Ron McLean: So it looks as though Ike Idol is our odds on favorite?

John Henry: It definitely seems that way, Ron!  In 2010 Ike Idol has defeated the likes of Jerin Rose, Zack Mercury and Chi Chi Cruz just to name a few and he’s been TRCW Champion.

Ron McLean: There you have it, two main events that could shake SPW’s foundation to the ground!
