SPW Heavyweight Title Match
“Classic” Matt Fairlane Vs Marius (c)
Matt Fairlane became the inaugural SPW Heavyweight Champion at Battle for the Belt 1 in 2008. More than a year later he lost that championship to Marius thanks to some outside interference and a Peyote Piledriver on the title belt. Not quite a year after that and Marius is still reigning as SPW Heavyweight Champion!
It took more than 4 months for Fairlane to get a rematch with Marius and each rematch came with less than desirable endings. Each time these two men met for the SPW Heavyweight Title the matches would end in count-outs, DQ’s or with Marius winning with the help of Rob Stardom or the use of a weapon.
Unable to get a proper match with Marius, Matt Fairlane has grown impatient and antsy wanting to get his hands on Marius and win back his claim to the SPW Heavyweight Championship. At Red River Rumble Fairlane survived 29 other men and won to earn himself a future title match. That future title match is now only a few weeks away!
SPW President Dale Barnett was quick to sign this match for Battle of the Belt 2 with many fans eager to see justice served and witness Matt Fairlane become a 2-time SPW Heavyweight Champion. On Saturday September 18, 2010 Matt Fairlane challenges Marius for the SPW Heavyweight Title at Battle for the Belt 2 in the Selkirk Memorial Hall, Fairlane’s home turf. This is a match (and show!) that you don’t want to miss!
SPW Provincial Title Match
“Canadian Wrestling Legend” Chi Chi Cruz Vs “Iron” Ike Idol (c)
Battle for the Belt 2, the name says it all. The professional wrestling industry, from a wrestler’s perspective, is all about winning championships. The second title match at Battle for the Belt 2 will pit former SPW Heavyweight Champion and “Canadian Wrestling Legend” Chi Chi Cruz against 2-time SPW Provincial Champion “Iron” Ike Idol.
The year 2010 has been one of performance for both men with a streak of victories and championship gold. In January, Idol ventured to Alberta for a brief wrestling tour, back from a crippling knee injury. In February Ike Idol became TRCW Heavyweight Champion with victories over Shadow Xtreme, Gibby Guerrero, Jerin Rose and Zack Mercury. In August Idol accomplished two things; he defeated WWE Legend Bushwhacker Luke and he became a 2-time SPW Provincial Champion.
For Chi Chi Cruz the story is quite similar. He scored a number of wins throughout winter and spring. In March he became the SPW Heavyweight Champion, defeating Marius. In April he teamed with former ECW World Champion Raven to defeat Marius and Rob Stardom at the 2nd Anniversary Show. He began the summer by ending a series of bloody battles with Rob Stardom scoring a victory in June. The rest of the summer saw him continue to rack up victories leading up to his next challenge, a SPW Provincial Title match.
