the buzz by john henry (08/31/10)
I’m writing this on Sunday mourning, a day after the chaos that was our double shot weekend!
We’ve done a few of these in the past, once in 2009 when we brought in Rick Martel and again this spring when Cody Deaner wrestled for us. Generally speaking those were busy but fun weekends. This weekend was something all together different. We had more that 30 wrestlers on hand including Bushwhacker Luke, one of the shows was outdoors and both shows were part of a TV taping for a new series that we are developing.
Not only did we film several matches but we filmed even more interviews and backstage vignettes that will be included in the series’ episodes. Our production team was put to the test, running around, giving direction and making sure the right people were in the right places. The wrestlers stepped it up to, delivering with their matches and backstage interviews.
Now all we have to do is upload all the footage, edit it down and produce the first episodes of what will be our new, yet to be named, broadcast property. I believe that everyone earned a relaxing Sunday this weekend. I know that I, Ron McLean, Jethro Hawg and Dale Barnett will all be recharging today, ready to tackle all the work ahead on Monday.
We announced over the weekend that our next TV taping will take place next month at the Selkirk Memorial Hall on Saturday September 18th. I can report that SPW is looking at bringing in another international star. We’ll be looking into more women’s wrestlers as well as some midget wrestlers too! Our schedule through to the end of December is tentatively booked which will carry us right into 2011.
I’d like to thank everyone who came out to support us over the weekend. Ask any of the wrestlers and they’ll tell you from the bottom of their hearts, they do everything they do to entertain the fans and get that rush of adrenaline from the noise you make.
I also like to thank the team from the wrestlers, the office, refs and everyone in between. You guys delivered like you always do and it did not go unnoticed.
Well, that’s about all my brain can handle at the moment so…
Until next time, that’s the buzz!
