The buzz by john henry (03/15/11)

Pardon the pun but things are buzzing in the SPW office.  Several matches are signed for Arborg on March 26th which will be officially released on Steeltownprowrestling.ca over the course of this week and the next.  Most of the talent slated to appear are signed and ready to go.  On top of that SPW President Dale Barnett and the team are hard at work on April 9th event that will mark SPW’s 3rd Anniversary.

Cathy Cougar, a veteran women’s wrestler and a new female trainee from Lance Storm’s wrestling school are set to appear as part of some women’s matches.  Also signed is former WWE Superstar Gangrel known primarily for his time as the leader of The Brood with Christian and Edge and the New Brood with Matt and Jeff Hardy.  There are also plans to have all three SPW championships defended and you can expect those matches to be announced after March 26th.

The production team in putting the final touches on the first iPPV that will air on GoFightLive.tv.  The first iPPV will be a “Best of” compilation with matches dating back from the first show in 2008 until present day.  A second iPPV is already in production, Raising the Stakes 2011 will be the first official event released on iPPV followed by the upcoming 3rd Anniversary Show.  We’ll let you know when the first iPPV is available on-line as we are quite excited about these projects.

While Marius was on the losing end of singles match against Raven in St. John’s Newfoundland on March 6th, he was taken aside and given valuable advice by the veteran.  Marius is still upset about losing the SPW Heavyweight Title and is seeking revenge on both Matt Fairlane and current champion Ike Idol.  Rob Stardom is also reeling from his ladder match loss to La Sombra which has hushed a usually vocal Family of Darkness.

Vengeance may be at hand on March 26th Arborg when Marius challenges Fairlane and Stardom teams with SYKO to challenge Chip Fletcher and Mike Mission for the SPW Tag Team Titles.  I expect both these matches to have an added level of violence as they try to regain their footing within the SPW ranks.  I can also confirm that Ike Idol will be defending the SPW Heavyweight Title in Arborg against an opponent that will be chosen on that night with some kind of qualifying match.

Jethro Hawg and Shadow Xtreme both had a great tour of Northern Manitoba the weeks before Raising the Stakes 2011.  Both men were well received by the northern wrestling fans and Jethro told me that Shadow learned a lot while on the road.  For Jethro the tour marked his 5th in his career.  SYKO was also on the tour but was kept from the public for much of the time they were on the road.

Referee Matthew Burns is said to be feeling well these days after taking a hard shot to the head with a crutch at Raising the Stakes.  He was wearing a crimson mask and out cold during the closing minutes of the 4-way Elimination SPW Heavyweight Title Match.  You have to give it up to SPW officials, they’re pretty tough in their own right.

On a side note, SPW is actively seeking more female wrestlers for upcoming SPW events.  If you’re an aspiring female wrestler the SPW Training Academy might be for you.  If you’re already an active female wrestler, get in touch with us at steeltownprowrestling@gamil.com.

That’s it for this week, until next time, that’s the buzz.
