SPW ceases to recognize title

Following Matt Fairlane’s loss of the CEW Inter-Cities Championship, SPW President Dale Barnett made the call to no longer recognize the title within Steeltown Pro Wrestling.  Barnett commented on the situation:

There is no tension between SPW and CEW officials.  It’s as simple as this; Andrew Hawk won the title and will be defending it primarily in Alberta where he resides.  Because the title will no longer be regularly defended on SPW events we will no longer recognize the title like we currently do the TRCW Championship.  The CEW title comes with a great lineage and history.  We may see it back in SPW down the road but for the time being it will no longer be hosted under the Steeltown Pro banner.  Without a doubt Andrew Hawk will make a great champion.

The CEW Inter-cities title has been recognized under the Steeltown Pro Wrestling banner since April 17, 2010 when Matt Fairlane defeated Big Jess to become the champion.  Fairlane recently lost the title to Andrew Hawk.
