la sombra

Height: 5'3"
Weight: 163 LBS
Hometown: El Salvador
An immigrant of El Salvador, La Sombra grew up watching the legendary luchadores from his native land and Mexico. With a deep respect for lucha libre traditions, La Sombra dreamed of becoming a star in the wrestling business and donning a mask like so many legends before him including El Santo, Mil Mascaras and Blue Demon.
La Sombra immigrated to Canada at a young age and upon completion of high school decided it was time to fulfill his dreams. Seeking out legendary promoter Tony Condello and former WWE, ECW and NWA-TNA star Don Callis (aka The Natural, Jackal, Cyrus), La Sombra began his training. As was lucha libre custom, La Sombra donned a name and rechristened himself.
As a rookie, La Sombra completed several tours of the Tony Condello’s world famous northern wrestling tours that have been featured in documentaries and in several books such as Edge and Chris Jericho’s autobiographies. On these tours he learned from veterans such as Kerry Brown, Chi Chi Cruz and Eddie Watts.
With years of experience La Sombra made his SPW debut in 2008. By the end of the year La Sombra proved himself; becoming the first ever SPW Provincial Champion and winning his first ever singles championship. He defended the championship with honor before losing the championship in early 2009. Always the fighter, La Sombra would become a 2-time SPW Provincial Champion in August 2009 and held the title until the end of the year when a crippling knee injury cost him the championship and put him in the injury reserve for more than 6 months.
By the spring of 2010 La Sombra was back in the ring and right in the mix of things. He gained major wins over James Beaver and Reggie Gallagher before entering into a series of matches with SPW Heavyweight Champion Marius throughout the summer. La Sombra and Marius would end up in the main event of the first episode of SPW SHOWDOWN in October.
For year’s La Sombra’s size has placed him as a perennial underdog but never to be deterred, La Sombra has overcome size differences and injuries to become a major player on the SPW roster. After 2 reings as the SPW Provincial Champion, La Sombra has set his sights on the SPW Heavyweight Title which he aims to win in 2011.
