Open Letter to Matt Fairlane
September 17, 2010
Dear Matt Fairlane,
There was a time in your career when you were considered the best wrestler in Steeltown Pro Wrestling, the best in the territory. There was a time when you were on an impressive undefeated streak, when you were crowned the first ever SPW Heavyweight Champion, when you reigned supreme for 378 days. Yes, there WAS a time…that’s past tense my dear friend.
Since being knocked off your throne, what you have you truly accomplished? Picking up victories over less than credible wrestlers, winning a third rate title like the CEW Inter-cities Championship, being a hero to the same group of hometown fans that would blindly support you no matter the situation? Your fall from grace has been sad and pathetic and I couldn’t be happier that your demise was all a ruse, designed by my family and me. That in a single stroke of genius we have destroyed and controlled your destiny.
Where your journey has been a downward spiral, mine has been the polar opposite. For more than 320 days I have been the SPW Heavyweight Champion, rapidly closing in on your precious record setting reign. I’ve defended the title across Canada against some of the very wrestlers this industry has to offer; in Alberta against Heavy Metal, in Saskatchewan against AJ Sanchez, in Ontario against Mentallo, all over Manitoba against La Sombra, Zack Mercury, Billy Blaze, Chi Chi Cruz…the list goes on. And on that, wouldn’t you know it, your name Matt Fairlane comes up on several occasions. You’ve tried and failed to remove me from my throne.
And yet, here we are preparing to face off one more time on September 18, 2010 at Battle for the Belt 2. You won the Red River Rumble for a second time in three years; you’ve earned yet another chance at the SPW Heavyweight Title. You don’t deserve one but I can’t ignore the fact that you did indeed earn this opportunity.
Did you know that we’ve battled each other in singles matches and tag team matches on more than 20 occasions? That doesn’t even include battle royals. Strangers, we are not. On Saturday September 18, 2010 at the Selkirk Memorial Hall it needs to end…I NEED to end it. Forever! I’ll do what needs to be done; I’ll do so at any cost.
My name is Marius, reigning SPW Heavyweight Champion. I am a member of the Family of Darkness and my family will be the death of you. It has to end. It needs to end. It will end! Saturday September 18, 2010 at Battle for the Belt 2, Matt Fairlane will be laid to rest and may he rest uneasy until the end of time.
Your friend, always,
M A R I U S
SPW Heavyweight Champion
