Puppy Dog Peloquin Receives Award

Puppy Dog Peloquin appeared a Battle for the Belt 2 this past Saturday to become the fourth recipient of the SPW Life Time Achievement Award.

Puppy Dog, also known at time as the French Mad Dog, began his journey into pro wrestling in 1971 training with promoter Tony Condello at the age of 29.  On Condello’s wrestling circuit Peloquin began to make a name for himself throughout western Canada eventually winning the WFWA Western Canadian Championship, the top prize in the promotion during that time.

By the late 1970’s Peloquin began what would become regular appearances on episodes of AWA TV, wrestling in front of thousands of fans at the old Winnipeg Arena.  During his time with the American Wrestling Association, he would wrestle the likes of Verne Gagne, Nick Bockwinkle, The Crusher, Larry Hennig, Pat Patterson, Ray Stevens,  Bobby Hennan, Lord Alfred Hayes and Hulk Hogan…And that’s just to name a few!
Peloquin would hang up his wrestling boots in 1993 marking the end of a 22 year career.  When asked if he missed the wrestling business?  He replied that he definitely misses it and once its in your blood, it stays in your blood.

In an in ring presentation, Wayne Stanton presented Puppy Dog Peloquin with the SPW Life Time Achievement Award who happened to be joined by his cousin Chi Chi Cruz.  The crowd gave Peloquin and great round of applause in honour of his great career.  Past recipients include Sgt. Tom Steele, Dave Petro and Ernie Rheault.
