raising the stakes 2011

SPW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Shadow Xtreme Vs "Iron" Ike Idol Vs "Classic" Matt Fairlane Vs Marius (c)

Current SPW Heavyweight Champion Marius has been able to turn away multiple challengers throughout his reign but now he’ll have to do so all in one match when he defends the championship in a 4-Way match.  This marks the first time he defends the title in a multi man match.  The last time the championship was defended against more than one challenger was when Matt Fairlane lost the SPW title to Marius on October 10m 2009 in a 6-Way Steeltown Showdown!

Following a successful tour of northern Manitoba on Tony Condello’s “Northern Death Tour”, Shadow Xtreme was chosen to participate in the match making this his biggest opportunity to date in Steeltown Pro.

After being unable to challenge Marius on January 28th due to a snow storm, Ike Idol is being given his first SPW Heavyweight Title opportunity EVER at Raising the Stakes.  Idol has been pegged as a future champion for some time.  If there was ever a time to seize the moment, it will be this Saturday.

Perhaps Marius’ greatest rival, Matt Fairlane has been robbed of a second SPW Heavyweight Title reign for the better part of the last year and a half.  At every turn his efforts have been thwarted by Marius, his mentor Rob Stardom and his brother in the Family of Darkness, SYKO.  With the dynamics of a 4-way match, Matt Fairlane may not have a better opportunity than this to regain what was once his: the SPW Heavyweight Championship.

SPW President Dale Barnett is raising the stakes, making Marius defend the SPW Heavyweight Title against 3 excellent challengers!

OPEN CHALLENGE MATCH
JJ Sanchez Vs “Wild Child” Jerin Rose

As the inaugural SPW Tag Team Champion, Jerin Rose announced at the beginning of the year that he was re-entering the singles ranks.  The former RCW and TRCW Champion is no stranger to being a singles champion and he made it clear that he was going after the SPW Heavyweight Title.  With that in mind Jerin Rose issued an open challenge to any heavyweight on the roster to prove that he was ready to win SPW’s biggest prize.

The first person to answer the challenge was none other than JJ Sanchez!  The younger Sanchez brother is a capable heavyweight with the ability to move much like a cruiserweight.  In fact, in 2009 JJ Sanchez received several title opportunities against then champion Matt Fairlane coming within inches of winning the top singles gold.  Himself wanting to earn another opportunity at the SPW Heavyweight Title he wasted no time in accepting Jerin Rose’s open challenge.
